Jay Beaumont
Jay
Beaumont has been a teaching pro here at West Winds Tennis and Fitness
since August 2005. Jay holds a certification as instructor with the
United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR), which he obtained
through the
Dennis Van Der Meer pro training school in South
Carolina. He also is a certified tennis professional through the
United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA, the oldest, most
established accreditation organization in the world).
In addition to his professional teaching accreditations, Jay has been
playing the game of tennis for over 25 years. He played junior tennis
throughout his high school years as well as his college years at
Fredonia State in Fredonia, NY. During his college years, Jay also
taught 3 years of summer tennis instruction for Niagara County in
western NY.
From college, Jay entered the
United States Navy and became a pilot,
serving his county for 6 years. After the Navy, Jay became a
commercial pilot and is currently flying for
United Airlines. After
settling in New Market, MD, Jay’s enthusiasm for tennis brought him
back to playing competitively again and helping other players in their
quest to improve their skills. He completed both his professional
certifications and became a member of the West Winds staff.
Jay currently runs an adult drill for intermediate (3.5 and up)
players and junior drill for intermediate to advanced juniors. He is
available for all types of lessons, both adults and juniors
(individual or group), as well as for team instruction for USTA
teams.
