Barrett Elkins, Director

Joins the West Winds team as Tennis Director overseeing all tennis programs. Barrett is currently Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at Mount St. Mary’s University. He led both the men’s and women’s teams to the highest conference finishes in recent history; led 4 colleges and taken 2 to the NCAA Tournament. Barrett has coached the highest ranked players at 3 different schools, including the No. 5 male and No. 6 female nationally. His experience ranges from beginner level programs to adult team development.

Collin Parker, Head Pro

Born and raised in Olney, Maryland, he began playing tennis at the age of 8 and never stopped.

As a young tennis player, he achieved –

  • # 1 in the USTA Boys 18's Mid Atlantic

  • #4 in the USTA nationally

  • 3-time national doubles runner up

  • Semifinalist at the Kalamazoo Boys Nationals Doubles Championship

  • Top 16 in the Jr Orange Bowl international championship

  • #1 single all 4 years of High School tennis

  • 3-time Washington Post all met Selection

  • Multiple Md State singles and Doubles Champion

  • WVU 4 time all Atlantic 10 first team selection and captained the UMD Men’s team as senior

As a tennis coach, he has taught /coached in several capacities

  • Director of Jr Tennis at Quince Orchard Swim and Tennis Club, Gaithersburg Md.

  • Staff Professional at The Georgetown Prep tennis Club, Rockville, Md

  • Director of Jr. Tennis, Potomac Tennis Club, Potomac Md.

  • Assistant Coach OSSA Tennis Academy, Potomac Md.

  • Traveling Coach for ATP Tour Player Paul Goldstein (Career High Ranking Of 58)

  • Head Coach of Coach1Parker Tennis Academy

 

Coach Parker has worked with Players of all Levels and is passionate about teaching the game to all that care to learn.

Mike Gaston

 

Mike is a USPTA certified elite professional and has over 25 years’ experience coaching top juniors and adult players in the region.  In addition to coaching, Mike was a top ranked Mid-Atlantic junior and men’s player.

Josh Spiers

 

He has been successful playing as well as coaching.  A 3-time state qualifier and 6th place finisher, Josh began coaching while in college, taking several students to state tournaments. Josh has coached all levels of players from beginner to advanced and all age groups and currently also serves as the Mount St. Mary's Assistant Men's and Women's Tennis Coach. “I am passionate and energetic about tennis, and I love to spread my passion and knowledge while creating a fun experience for all.”
